The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Zamfara State Chapter, has honoured Governor Bello Mohammed with the title of Sarkin Yakin NUT (NUT’s Chief Warrior).

The Union was among the many Civil Organisations, Professional and Trade Unions who voluntarily sought to meet Governor Matawalle and emphasised their solidarity with his administration.

The Chairman of the Union in the state, Comrade Maikano Sani Maru, who led the entire EXCO and top members of the Union said the decision to endorse the administration of Matawalle was borne out of the many good tidings it brought to the members of the Union in the last four years.

Comrade Sani said that the Union will not forget the employment of over 600 qualified teachers at the advent of the administration which eased the pressure of teacher/pupil ratio in the State’s primary schools as well as created jobs for the unemployed, thereby easing poverty in the society.

He also recalled that the Matawalle administration paid their accumulated leave grants as well as promoted over ten thousand teachers in the state. “We are also indebted to your adminstration for the continuous training and re-training of our members through the Universal Basic Education Board in the state”, Comrade Sani announced.

The Union also expressed gratitude to Governor Matawalle for including school teachers in the implementation of N30,000 minimum wage in the state.

Responding, Governor Matawalle promised to do more for teachers and other professional trades in the state when returned into office. He said that his administration will focus more on education, Health Services and infrastructure.

No fewer than thirty Civil groups, Professional bodies and trade Unions have visited the Governor to express their unalloyed support to his second term bid in the last few days, among which included Medical and Health Workers Union, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees.
