His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun) today received 12,562 All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains and Supporters to the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP.).
Those who defected include 3 former Commissioners, Hon Idris Mohammed Keta, Hon Abdulkadir Ahmed and Hon Aliyu Adamu Tsafe.
Others are two former local government council chairmen, Hon Musa Yusuf Tsafe, Hon Ahmed Sani Kantoma Tsafe and two former Directors General, Alhaji Bashir Lawali Kwaren Ganuwa and Alhaji Saminu Lawali.
All the defecting politicians are from Tsafe Local Government whose action paralyzed the All Progressives Congress branch of the party in the area as only a few people are left for the APC.
In their separate speeches, Hon Idris Mohammed Keta and Alhaji Habibu Alo said their decision to collaps the entire Tsafe local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC into the PDP is as a result of the peace being enjoyed by their communitie under the present leadership of Governor Matawalle.
They added that addressing the Security challenges facing the State within a short period of time is quite commendable and needs the hands of all well meaning citizens of the state for the sustenance of peace in the state.
They noted that before the coming of the present administration of Governor Matawalle people of the State could not sleep with their two eyes closed until now.
They promised to join hands with the Governor to move the State forward for the purpose of having a peaceful and United Zamfara that every body can live harmoniously.
Governor Matawalle in his speech described the decision of the people of Tsafe Local Government as a wise one that is worthy of commendation.
He assured them of equal opportunity as members of the PDP where they are expected to contribute to the development of the state at all levels.
The Governor also reiterated his Government determination to improve the living standards of the State citizens especially those affected by the banditry activities through the establishment of social intervention programmes that will impact positively to their wellbeing.
He added that the resettlement process of all the IDPs in State has reached advanced stage as the federal government under the able leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to assist the state in that direction.
He further said that when all the people affected are resettled and the repentant bandits are deradicalised, under the peace and dialogue initiative of the State Government, complete peace will be actualized.
Earlier in his speech the State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha Gusau said PDP will remain a United and formidable party in Zamfara State.
He urged the newly registered members to consider themselves as bonafide and genuine members that are entitled to all rights and privileges as provided in the party’s constitution.
