Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon. Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle (Matawallen Maradun) has sympathised with the victims of flooding at Hayin Malam Sani area of Gusau local government area of the State.
Governor Matawalle said he was at the area to sympathise with the victims after receiving report on the unfortunate incident which affected many houses and destroyed valuables .
He assured that his government will give the needed support to the victims in order to cushion the effect of the disaster on them.
Matawalle also directed the Engineers of the state Ministry of Housing and Town Planning to immediately commence the construction of a water drainage in the area to ensure the total prevention of the reoccurrence of the ugly incident.
The Governor also urged people of the State to share awareness creation within their communities on the dangers and implications of indiscriminate dumping of refuse especially along water ways.
He described the incident as an act of God, prayed for Allah’s protection against reoccurrence and promised immediate relief to the victims.
The flood occurred on Friday as a result of heavy rain fall that lasted for about four hours in Gusau which led to the collapse of several houses within the state capital.
The Governor also directed the Zamfara Emergency Management Agency to assess the level of the damage made and appropriately advise government on immediate measures to be taken.
