Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon. Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle MON(Matawallen Maradun) has reiterated his administration’s determination to improve the quality of life of the poor and vulnerable people in the state through social intervention programmes.
The Governor disclosed this today, Saturday when he received the Coordinator of National Social Safety Coordinating Officer (NASSCO) Mr. Apera Lorwa on a courtesy call at his Abuja residence.
Governor Matawalle said his administration has already created a Social Intervention Programme that will uplift the living standard of the poor and vulnerable groups in the state.
He further that the Social intervention programme is a programme that is directly under his office and that under phase one of the programme, a total of 200 men and 100 women will be recruited from all the 14 local Government areas of state.
He maintained that the social intervention programme is aimed at helping poor families economically through a human capital development that will improve the economic value chain of the state.
Earlier in his address the National Coordinator of the Social Safety said they were at the Governor’s residence to solicit for Zamfara government support and cooperation in the discharge of the organization’s assignments in the state.
He explained that his organization of National Social Safety Nets is a programme established to help States and register all the poor and vulnerable households.
He added that when all the vulnerable groups are registered, it will assist government in addressing development programmes at all levels of governance and will also lead to bridging gaps of infrastructure and poverty among the citizens.
The courtesy call was attended by the former Finance Minister and Governor’s Honorary Advisor, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda Gusau and Permanent Secretary office of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe.
