Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Jon Tong Chol has paid a thank you visit to Governor Bello Muhammad for rescuing a Korean Doctor in the state held by bandits for seven month
The Ambassador was in Gusau Sallah eve to pay his respect to the Governor and assure him of his country’s appreciation for the good gesture
Mr Chol told the Governor that his Country received the news of the release of its national unhurt and without a ransom paid as a positive gesture that indeed, they need to continue working with Matawalle’s administration.
Receiving the Ambassador, Governor Bello Matawalle assured him of his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, maintenance of peace and harmony as well as the pursuit for improving lives of its citizens.
Governor Matawalle said his administration secured the release of about 350 captives from the gun men including the Korean Doctor and his Nigerian aide without Ransom as part of the peace process currently being pursued in the state.
“Indeed, this episode elsewhere could have been celebrated worldwide. But our aim is to get the results, celebrated or not, because that is what we swore to do as a popular government”, Matawalle posited.
He called on the Korean Ambassador to have greater faith in his administration and persuade his country men to further invest in the state in the area of Health, mining and commerce.
“Korea is a developed country now. We need your technology in every developmental aspect at this crusial period of our journey towards progress and self sufficiency”, Governor Matawall observed.
He also called on Korea to render its assistance to the thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state.
“I urge you to also render your assistance to our IDPs in the area of provision of drugs, resettlement and skill acquisition” the Governor appealed.
