DUAL CITIZENSHIP: COMR.KAURA DRAGS DAUDA LAWAL, INEC, AND PDP TO COURT

The Special Adviser on Zamfara Urban and Regional Planning Board Comr. Anas Abdullahi Kaura has dragged Dr. Dauda Lawal the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Zamfara state, the party and Independent National Electoral Commission to the Federal High Court Gusau division on whether by virtue of sections 2(2), 3(2) and 177 of the 1999 constitution as amended a citizen of Nigeria can enjoy dual citizenship.
Their brief as a result of discrepancies detected from the credentials submitted to the INEC by Dr. Dauda Lawal the PDP gubernatorial candidate which show that he was born in both Guga village of Katsina and Gusau the Zamfara state capital.

In the certificate of primary school presented by Dr. Dauda Lawal, it show that he was born in Guga a town located in the present day Katsina while in the declaration of age he made on the 12th of September 2018 he claimed that he was born in Gusau the capital city of Zamfara state.

Anas Kaura through his lawyer Barr. P.M. Lasco is asking for the court to determine whether by sections 2(2), 3(2) and 177 of the 1999 constitution as amended a citizen of Nigeria can enjoy dual citizenship.
He also prayed for the court to determine whether by the combined effect of the provisions of Sections 2(2), 3(2) and 177 of the 1999 constitution as amended and giving the circumstances surrounding the state of origin of the 1st Defendant, he can be cleared by the 2nd and 3rd defendant to contest for the office of the Governor of the state.

Barr. P.M. Lasco who filed the case by way of originating summon on Monday the 8th of November 2022 is awaiting for a date to be fixed for all parties to enter appearances for the matter to be determined on its merit.
Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare earlier on Tuesday got his victory as PDP gubernatorial candidate quashed when Justice Aminu Bappa led Federal High Court Gusau announced the prohibition of the PDP to fill in Governorship candidate in the 2023 general election.

The Tuesday judgment is the second the same federal high court it invalidated the first primary election conducted by the party on the 25th of April 2022 on the ground that it was not conducted not in substanti al compliance with the law.
