Arsenal suffer injury blow ahead of Burnley clash

Mikel Arteta’s men are gearing up to face the Clarets at Turf Moor in their Premier League clash as they look to take all three points back to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal full-back Sead Kolasinac has missed out on a place in the travelling Arsenal squad for the Premier League match against Burnley after returning to training this week.

The 26-year-old has missed the last three matches in all competitions due to a thigh injury. That, along with the absence of Kieran Teirney due to a dislocated shoulder, means that midfielder Bukayo Saka has had to deputise in the left-back role.

An update via Arsenal’s official website gave hope to fans that Kolasinac could make his comeback against the Clarets: “Sead Kolasinac. Left thigh strain. Has progressed well this week and will be assessed ahead of Burnley (a),” it read.

However, The Bosnian has not travelled with the squad to Lancashire in what will be a blow to Mikel Arteta ahead of the match.

The left-back had just returned from an ankle injury and played just two Premier League games before suffering the latest injury setback.

But there is also some good news ahead of the game, with fellow defender Shokdran Mustafi travelling with the squad after his injury against Bournemouth.

The German was carried off the pitch at the Vitality Stadium, but appears to be fit enough to return to the squad after returning to training in the week.
