STOLEN PENSION FUNDS: AREWA GROUP PRAISES GOV MATAWALLE
The Arewa Progressives League (APL) has commended Zamfara State Governor, Mohammed Bello Matawalle on his efforts to recover stolen pension funds.
The group, in a statement by its Chairman, Abdullahi Musa Mafara and issued to newsmen in Kaduna, criticised the administration of former governor of the State, Abdulaziz Yari for what it described as “Yari’s disregard for the plight of pensioners, their families and dependants”.
Mafara said there were reports that before the emergence of Matawalle as governor, many pensioners fell sick from frustration over the unpaid pensions. “But today, we hear news of bank alerts for pensioners in the State”, the group declared.
The group noted in the statement that “if PDP’s Matawalle had not won the 2019 elections, only God knows how many pensioners of the State would have been dead by now”.
They also called on Northerners to borrow a leaf from Matawalle’s “strategic system of governance and his accountable leadership”.
