APAPA SENSITIZES RESIDENTS ON CORONA VIRUS, LASSA FEVER, WASTE MANAGEMENT, REVENUE BYE LAWS

As a follow up directives of His Excellency,the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo- Olu that each Local Government and LCDA should sensitize grassroots/ residents on the dreadful disease called *CORONA VIRUS* on its causes and preventions. Apapa Local Government Chairman, Hon.Adele Elijah Owolabi invited market men and women, youths,artisans, CDAs/CDC members, NGOs, CBOs etc to create awareness on Lassa Fever, Corona virus, et al at the Council Secretariat.
The Council chief while addressing the gathering implored them to be proactive in terms of Environmental Consciousness through maintaining hygienic and clean environment to avert deadly endemic scourges Lassa fever, Corona virus. He emphatically hammered on market sanitation/cleaning as government would not fold its arms watching deteriorating environment and health.Adele told the audience that very soon fumigation would be carried out in the markets in the Local Government. He implored them to cooperate with the Council by paying statutory and authorized dues/ levies but quickly added that amount payable depends on market and size. Adele informed that corporate organizations have keyed into quarterly fumigation.
” I will like to tell you that for the avoidance of doubt I want you to go through 1999 constitution schedule 4 on imperative of Radio/ TV rates and other statutory levies.It is only religious organizations that are exempted ” Adele added.
Hon. Adele pleaded with the stakeholders from different strata of the Local Government to endeavour to buy the Local Government bye Laws in order to be absorbed of Laws’ wrath
The HOD ENVIRONMENT, Dr. Adeyemi Tella Richard traced the history of Lassa to a town,Lassa in Borno in 1969.He said the vector of the disease is species of rats with multiple breasts. He advised on personal hygiene
Both MOH,Dr.Kehinde Ososanya and Health Educator, Pastor Abiola Olawole outlined precautionary guidelines after analyzing the causes, symptoms, transmission. They collectively proffered washing of hands, using hands sanitizers,avoid touching of eyes,noses,mouths, and avoid contact with sick people.
Mr Moshood extensively delved much on waste management and Revenue bye Laws by adhering to the above in order to jointly achieve sustainable environment.
The Supervisor for Environment, Hon.Saheed Danamodan appreciated the invitees from sparing their time to attend this all important and timely life saving gathering.
