GOVERNOR MATAWALLE PAYS 240M TO NECO AS PAYMENT FOR 2020 REGISTRATION

Zamfara State Government has paid the sum of 240 million naira to National Examination Council (NECO) as payment of 2020 registration fees for the SS (3) students that are billed to write their final year examination.

 
 
State Commissioner for Education Ibrahim Abdullahi Spirow declared this on Saturday.
The Commissioner noted that, the payment is for 24,236 SS (3) students under the control of the government owned schools
 
 
“The administration of Bello Matawalle has to pay this huge sum of money considering the value it attaches to education. The examination body had protested that it will not register students from Zamfara State unless the government has paid their registration fees 100%” the Commissioner explained.
 
 
He also explained that the current administration has settled close to 600 million naira out of the debt of 1.6 billion naira it inherited from the immediate past administration to NECO noting that, what is left is about 1 billion naira to be paid.
 
 
“We have given them our committment as a government that, every blessed month we will pay them 50 million naira till we settle the debt so that the morale of our children can be lifted high” the Commissioner added.
 
 
 While commending Governor Bello Matawalle for his foresight in according priority to education, he urged parents and well meaning citizens of the state to pray for his administration to succeed in its plans for reviving education sector in the state
